Use HOPE's Accessibility Tools to Tailor Your Website Experience New Options Make HOPE Available More Easily to More People  HOPE's new website has been receiving great reviews. Two of the most helpful additions are functions that will create greater access for people who need assistance navigating websites due to a disability and for people who may be more comfortable reading the site in Spanish. - UserWay - (Image "A" Above) A human figure icon located in the bottom left corner of every page allows visitors who may need to adjust things like contrast, text size or spacing, or other elements that make the site easier to navigate. Click the icon and adjust any of the setting to get just the right experience for you. The sample image shows a page with dyslexia-friendly fonts selected.
- Translation - (Image "B" Below) A box in the bottom right corner of every page enables visitors to toggle between languages. Selecting that box allows someone to choose between English and Spanish, which are the two the most often requested languages in our region. We will add other options as additional needs are identified. Â
Be sure to share these with anyone you know who may need a credit union that can help them access financial services more easily.  In future editions of Member Connect, we’ll continue highlighting some of the most important content and commonly used features to help you get the most out of everything the new site offers.

Secure Your Digital WalletTips for Safe Online Shopping and Payment  Not-so-fun fact: In 2023, online payment fraud led to global losses of over $48 billion, with North America being the hardest hit, responsible for 42% of those losses. The main culprits? A vast volume of data breaches and the broad availability of stolen credit card information.  As online shopping continues to grow, so do the risks associated with digital payments, underscoring the importance of adopting safe online shopping practices. - Start with a Safe Connection
Avoid public Wi-Fi for online shopping and use a VPN/secure connections to keep your payment details safe.
- Use Trusted Payment Platforms
Another way to secure your digital wallet is by using trusted payment methods and platforms or set up your HOPE digital wallet.
- Turn On Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Most banks, credit cards, and digital wallet platforms now offer MFA, and it’s easy to set up. It only takes a moment but could save you hours of headaches if your account is ever targeted.
- Update Your Passwords (And Use a Password Manager)
Strong, unique passwords are key to digital wallet security. And if you’re worried about remembering them all, there are password managers that’ll do the heavy lifting for you.
- Monitor Accounts and Watch for Phishing Scams
Staying on top of your bank and credit card accounts is the easiest way to detect fraud early. To make life easier, set up real-time alerts with your bank, so you’re notified whenever a purchase is made on your account. Also, be cautious of phishing scams, where fake emails or texts try to trick you into sharing personal info. If you get a suspicious message asking for sensitive details, it’s best to avoid clicking any links—if it feels off, trust your gut.
- Avoid Saving Payment Info on Retailer Sites
While major retailers tend to have strong security, smaller or less reputable websites may not. As an alternative, stick to using trusted payment platforms or your HOPE digital wallet to avoid having your card info stored on multiple sites.
